Mumorandums from a working mum
I would like to take this opportunity to thank and praise the teachers and staff at Giles Brook Primary School in Tattenhoe, Milton Keynes.
Like many other schools Giles Brook was closed on Wednesday and Thursday due to the chaos caused by the snow. However, until some schools in Milton Keynes our school showed a bit of common sense and the dedicated teachers and staff were there on Thursday clearing the paths and yards so school could start as normal on Friday morning.
From talking to my friends (other mums) this didn’t happen at every school in Milton Keynes, one school even waited until school opened on Friday morning before starting to clear the snow and asking parents to help. I can thoroughly understand my friends anger at the school, wondering why they didn’t ask on Thursday when parents were off work.
I think that sometimes we don’t appreciate all the hard work the teachers and staff involved at schools put in so I offer a great big thank you to all those at Giles Brook. Well done, you are amazing!
My name is Kassia Gardner and I’m a self-employed, working mum making a living from bright angels. I became a parent for the first time in 2004, and again in 2007, exactly three years to the day after the first. These are my thoughts about being a working mum and family life. I hope you find this is the kind of read that makes you smile.
