There are plenty of people out there writing about being a working mum. Although I am a working mum, I don’t claim to be an expert – there are enormous gaps in my knowledge – yet since having my first daughter Amelia I have worked full-time, part-time and not at all. I’ve worked for large corporations and now find myself working for myself – a business owner, which can be very scary.

A lot of my friends are also working mums, whether they’ve gone back to what they did before – pharmacueticals, IT or marketing – whilst a few brave ones have changed career or started working for themselves, one even made the ultimate sacrifice and became a teacher! We’ve all made changes along the way to our lifestyles, working hours and our disposable incomes.

I personally run two businesses (yes, I’m a glutton for punishment!), bright angels and I’m an authorised distributor for utility warehouse. I’m not going to promote them on this site but if you want to find out more about what I do please visit the websites.

Outside of ‘work’ I now have two girls aged five and two, I’m a sci-fi geek and a bit of a technology geek (I hanker after an iPhone). I love shoes, handbags and skiing, although not all at the same time! I also love watching and reading crime drama. In particularly I like NCIS, Bones, Lie to Me, Numbers, Doctor Who, Torchwoord, Lord of the Rings (yes, I read all three books as well as watched the films), Harry Potter and the Bourne series of books and films. Most of all I love my family, I love my husband and I love my two little girls.

Anyway, this blog is dedicated to all those working mums out there, whether they are working full time, part-time or even providing full-time child care – which is definitely classed as working full-time in my book!

I’m going to start by re-posting two blogs from my sister blog: 45 Life Lessons from a 90 Year Old and Lessons from a Speech-Writer. The first I’m re-posting because it made me smile and I hope it brings a smile to your face, the second I’m re-posting because whilst reading the source article I had a BFO (Blinding Flash of the Obvious) which caused me to write the article.

I promise that after this, it’s original content all the way…
